Met respect voor de architectuur van het huis uit begin 1900, heb ik de sobere stijl en de rechte lijnen van het huis laten reflecteren in de toepassing van de meubelen. De kleuren van de muur zijn gebaseerd op zachte natuurlijke tinten. De materialen voor de stoffering zijn een balans tussen zacht en krachtig. De spots in de kleur van het plafond zijn gericht op de kunstwerken en vallen niet op. De rest van de verlichting zorgt voor sfeer en is decoratief. De blikvanger in de eetkamer is een Murano glas kroonluchter.

Amsterdam-South

With respect for the architecture of the house from the early 1900s, I have reflected the sober style and the straight lines of the house in the choise of the furniture. The colors of the wall are based on soft natural tones. The materials used for the upholstery are a balance between soft and powerful. The spotlights in the color of the ceiling are aimed at the works of art and do not stand out. The rest of the lighting creates atmosphere and is decorative. The eye-catcher in the dining room is a Murano glass chandelier.

Leidend bij het ontwerpen van de keuken was de wens van de klant om de keuken door te trekken naar de eetkamer. Mijn Venetiaanse keukenfabrikant is meegegaan met de productie van deze keuken die niet standaard is. De combinatie van het Carrara marmeren aanrechtblad, de zwevende bar in donkergrijs eiken en de fronten in hoogglans wit werken ruimtelijk en verbinden de twee vertrekken met elkaar.

By designing the kitchen the desire of the customer was to link the kitchen with the dining room. My Venetian kitchen manufacturer agreed to produce this nonstandard kitchen. The combination of the Carrara marble counter top, the floating bar in dark gray oak and the white high glossy fronts create a spacious effect and connect the two rooms. 

In de eetkamer is de kroonluchter het decoratieve element, vervaardigd van transparant kristalglas in de eeuwenoude glasfabriek in Murano, Venetië.

The chandelier is the decorative element in the dining room, made  of transparent crystal glass in the centuries-old Murano glass factory in Venice.

De statige trap is bekleed met een wollen tapijt in een klassieke kleur. De trapleuningen zijn geschilderd in een zeer donker bruine tint, en niet in zwart, om het contrast met de witte wanden te verzachten. De witte lampen aan het plafond voegen een sierlijke lijn toe aan de entree.

The grand staircase is covered with a wool carpet in a classic color. The banisters are painted in a very dark brown shade, and not in black, to soften the white contrast with the walls. The white ceiling lights add a graceful line to the entrance.

Voor dit interieur werd een voormalige garage verbouwd tot een woning. Bij mijn eerste bezoek was het interieur donker, mede door de bestaande zwarte vloer.

Onder meer door het veranderen van een donkere naar een lichte vloer en het aanbrengen van een hangende boekenkast in zachte tinten in combinatie met een open haard ontstond er een lichter en warmer interieur. De accenten van de donkere iepen kastdeuren werken contrasterend met de zachte eiken vloer. De grijsbruine wand maakt het kleurenpalet compleet. 

De stof van de royale bank voegt genoeg warmte aan de ruimte toe zonder het kleurenpallet te verstoren.

Amsterdam City-center

For this interior a former garage was converted into a home. On my first visit the interior was dark, due to the existing black floor.

Among other things, by changing from a dark to a light floor and installing a hanging bookcase in soft tones in combination with a fireplace, a lighter and warmer interior was created. The bookcase doors in dark elm wood works as accent and makes a strong contrast to the soft light oak floor. The grey-brown color of the wall completes the color palette.

The fabric of the large sofa adds enough warmth to the space without disturbing the color palette.

De nis in het huis werd niet benut. Ik kwam op het idee om er een privé-plek van te creëren. Om de zonsondergang na te bootsen en naar binnen te halen werd de nis gestoffeerd met een feloranje stof.

The alcove in the house was not used. I came up with the idea of making it a private place. To imitate the sunset and bring it inside, the niche was upholstered with a bright orange fabric.

De bestaande zwart-witte keuken volgt de lijnen van de bank en de boekenkast. De grijsbruine muur werkt optisch als het einde van de enorme lange ruimte en de tegenovergestelde muur is behangen in dezelfde kleur. Zodoende worden de kleuren gereflecteerd in verschillende materialen en fungeren als steunpilaren voor het witte plafond.

The existing black and white kitchen follows the lines of the sofa and bookcase. The grey-brown wall optically acts as the end of the huge long room and the opposite wall is wallpapered in the same colour. In this way the colours on the wall are reflected in different materials and function as pillars for the white ceiling.
